I was playing with it last evening and I figured out a trick for sizing.  Cause it is hard to just guess the sizes.  you start with the envelope cut and a 12x12 paper and push fit to paper button.  It will then size it automatically to the paper and a number will flash on the screen (3 3/4" for instance ).  Then you know what size to make the rest of the parts of the card.  They will all cut and fit to that size envelope if you set it at 3 3/4".   Each shape card will ideally be a different size number.

Robin, I'll try your way becaue I printed out the sizing for the diffeent cards on a paper and keep it near the machine.  I know if I set the envelope at say, 6, the card will know what size to cut.

I have yet to use my DS with this cartridge! Guess I should play around with that and maybe by you method it would work.  I still need to read up on SCAL and Inkscape.

Thanks for the tip!!

O, this may not work for every card.  I just tried the triple fold card with the envie first and it cut 6 1/4".  Then the card wouldn't fit on the page, set at 6 1/4"(I think because it is a longer piece).  So I tried it again with fit to page cutting the tri fold card first and it was smaller(5 1/4 I think) and then cut the envie to fit.  So now I have this huge envelope....I'll need to just make a card by hand measurement to fit it.  A 2 fold card would have been better for it.  So I guess you'd start with the cut that visually looks the biggest (which usually is the envie)and press fit to page.

this is what i've heard for sizing. and was told it works pretty good.

All characters are measured from the lowest possible point to the highest. All cards are created at the same height. Envelopes and characters in the frame, phrase, icon, liner and blackout features are sized to fit proportionately to their coordinating base card. If REAL DIAL SIZE is selected, all characters will be cut accordingly to the selected dial size.

so basically, make sure real dial size is OFF. this should make the envelope and card match up.

when you real dial size is ON both die cuts will be 4" (or whatever is chosen) high. so the card will be 4" top to bottm while the envelope (opened out - exactly what is seen on the keypad) will also be 4" to to bottom. the card wil not fit.

i haven't tried this myself yet, but i was told this works great.

oh, i was also told to ALWAYS cutthe envelope first. it's possible that a 5" envelope may not be able to be cut on your mat cuz it won't fit. so once you get the right size for the envelope, then use the same for the rest with real dial size OFF.
