Are you ready for the JULY BUILD A LAYOUT CHALLENGE???
If you'd like to know how this works, please see the "How This Challenge Works" portion in the bottom part of this post.
Let's get started!
Step 1 (7/1): Gather your scrappy stuff!
You will need:
*One picture - I believe you will be happiest with this in b/w in the end so if you can do that, go for it. If not, no biggie!
*Go to your scraps and pick out 8 different patterned papers.
*Get one sheet of white or a very neutral beige/light colored cardstock.
Step 2 (7/11): Time to work with those scraps!
*Pull out the scraps you gathered and cut out 8 squares or circles from a punch or die cut (or machine). As for size, I am thinking you won't want any larger than 2 inches wide or in diameter depending on the size of your layout. You may choose to cut out all squares, all circles or a mix. I would suggest cutting out all of one shape.
*Once you have these cut out, you may want to ink, doodle, stitch, distress, etc. Because these are scraps and you will want a uniform look to your layout, I would suggest using the same color to ink, doodle or stitch - perhaps black or white? For fun, I would do something a little different to each shape.
*Clear as mud? Remember, I am super flexible and this should be fun and creative. Enjoy!
Step 3 (7/22): Placement
*Take your circles or squares and find a way to make a grid/array of any kind. Ex: group them by 2x4; 4x2; etc. Just so they are grouped together.
*Take your picture and distress it - ink, filing it, etc.
*Place the picture so that it is in the grouping of circles or squares. You can overlap the picture or just place it within the grouping.
*You might want to wait to stick it down until we talk about the title which will be coming up soon.
Step 4 (7/29): Let's Wrap it up
*Select a title and place it as close to the picture and grid you created above.
*Stick it all down.
*Doodle journal
*Add a few embellishments of your choice.
*You are done! Please post your work here when done!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How this challenge works:
*I will be posting certain elements/techniques/embellishments, etc for you to "build" a layout throughout the rest of this month.
*You will have to watch this thread for the details as I post them - no set times or dates will be given ahead, but I will give you plenty of time to add to your layout at each step. Go ahead and stick it down at each step instead of waiting until the end - that's the fun and challenging part!
*I will be choosing items that most everyone would have in their stash already.
*I think it would be really fun to see everyone's progress through a picture posted here after each step or two. (Please use photobucket, or the add image to post option under the topic screen etc. so we don't jam up the gallery) If that is a pain and you don't have time to take a pic and such, we will go on the honor system. I'm a flexible girl.
*If you get "behind" and don't get an addition to your layout done before I post the next addition, just add what you forgot and catch up when you can. You can join in at any time.
*This layout can be combined with other challenges going on if it is ok with the other challenge host.

The final step has been posted. I made it easy peasy so please try to give it a whirl. Can't wait to see what you create!

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind for this Erin and I know I tweeked it a bit - I just inked the squares and the picture instead of distressing and I used a color picture instead of B&W but with these colors I didn't like the B&W on them. I hope this is o.k..
