Mel, this is what I have to do. I go on my porch; it is not direct sunlight. When I put the layout on the ground, I stand over it with the setting on "P". I'll take some at distance and some close up.
Once I download to the computer (I use the program it came with). I then do an edit. With that, I will crop the photo and do an auto fix. That will give me the right brightness I need.
If when I took all the photos I needed to make a choice and non are centered right, I will leave some space so that with Paintshop Pro I can straighten it.
I can get my camera and read to you what kind of setting I have..Do you have Yahoo chat? Hey, do you have a webcam???

heh chickie
yep..that's what i do..stand over the lo..blah blah blah
natural lighting
it's the settings on the camera ~ cause i can do the editing..np
like the pics i took yesterday..i did no editing..except for 1
ok..i just did this..to play around with the settings..and get some
clarity
i was set on A (apeture) ISO 800 (whatever that means )
and took these shots..huge diff...i like the A 14 ISO 800
ok..so, i'm figuring..that with seeing the diff with these pics
i need to change the ISO..or something..
what do you have your's set on??
Aperture 18 ~ ISO 800
Aperture 14 ~ ISO 800
Aperture 10 ~ ISO 800
Aperture 6.3 ~ ISO 800

aperture is making a big difference!!..Let me check my camera..be right back..
Ok, I was playing around and I still get comfused with ISO and Apture. ..I was looking at this site (again), but I do have my ISO at 1600
I use "P" alot...Programed Auto. Sometimes, I forget to change it to just Auto, but it doesn't seem to hurt.
I know I should learn more.. ..

Mel, did you take that outside or in the house?
What do you have your dial set at?

Mel, turn your ISO down! The higher the ISO the more grain you will get. Take at 100 or 200. Open your aperture all the way open. THEN try it.
Sorry for your frustration. I take mine in natural light using close up setting, don't even know what the ISO is .... but I may not be as particular as you. When it comes to photos of my stuff, it's a good enough thing for me.
But just remember - higher ISO, more grain.

marlene, I was told higher is better. Then you had me thinking that maybe I miss understood. Well, here is the website I go to and though our cameras are different, they are the same...I need to do more reading...

Marlene is right about the ISO setting. In most cases you will end up with grainy photos...
Ideal time to up your ISO are in low light situations or even indoor action shots.
You gals are already learning so much, I am very proud of you!
