Tip: USING FLASH OUTSIDE

When taking a photo outside and you have your camera set at auto, the flash will not go off.  If you are taking a photo of someone under a tree, shaded area or covering, your subject will come out a little darker than what you want.  Set your camera to flash.  For the D40/D60 there is a button on the left side (if you are holding the camera) that you will push in.  First, set your dial for "P" (next to auto on the dial).  Once you have it set there, then push the flash button to pop up the flash. Take your photo and see the difference.

Sorry, I can't tell where your flash button is on other cameras.
