Stamping with Household items

I read this on the DIY website some time back and thought i would share. This was featured on an episode of DIY scrapbooking show and the stuff she did was GORGEOUS!

* You can get great effects with texture and color by using things you have in your house already. You can use sweetened condensed milk and heat it with a heat gun for a caramelized look for your pages. It is great to use for summer pages and sand.

* Pour sweetened condensed milk into a bowl and apply it to your rubber stamp using a make-up applicator .

* As you apply heat to the image, it will start to bubble and then turn a nice shade of brown. The longer you keep the heat on, the darker it will get.

* You can also use a powdered mix drink to add color to your pages . You want a high concentration, so use lots of powder and little water. Just mix drink powder with water and paint it right onto your stamp using an artist brush. The powdered mix drink absorbs into your paper and gives it a watercolor look. Use different flavors to get different colors.

* Another product you can use is lemon juice . Just apply it to the stamp the same way you do the powdered mix drink. Add heat by using your heat gun and it will start to turn brown.

Note: It is always better to be safe than sorry, so if you are concerned about the acidity of the products, spray them with a fixative and you won't have to worry.

* You can use a slide mount to create a shaker box to store the perfect beach charm.

* Don't forget to snap pictures of your favorite sand creations. Picture of castles and sand creatures make perfect embellishments.
