Krissy's Scrapping Commentary

Krissy will share some of her own layouts with us throughout the month and explain the stories behind them, a technique she used, where she found the inspiration, etc.  I know I am looking forward to hearing her comments about her very talented work!
Punkin

Since Krissy has been here at Paper... I have watched her pages evolve and her style change SO MUCH and I LOVE the idea of knowing her thinking behind those heartfelt and GORGEOUS creations!!!

OK - for some of these I'm hopping in my "wayback machine" and pulling up some old memories...Josie will remember this one...it's a two page spread that I did up at Scrapfest - the first time Josie and I hung out.  This was landmark for me in SO many ways...the first time I really discovered Basic Grey, the first LO I used my first electronic die cutter (anyone remember the Xyron XPC?) AND the first time I ever used Prima Flowers on a LO.

Back then it was hard for me to remember to get pictures of Jackson and I together.  The one on "A Mother's Love" was taken at a friend's bridal shower.  It was right after I FINALLY lost all the baby weight from Jackson and got my hair cut short short for the first time.  The picture on "is eternal" was taken at that same friend's wedding four months later.  It was taken by Mary Todd the last time that I ever saw her before she passed away three weeks later.  So I knew the layout had to be extra special because of those things...

Enjoy these from September 2006

Jenny

Those are beautiful, Krissy!  I can see how your layouts have evolved and changed too...both are great, but in different ways!  Isn't that cool to see how our styles evolve?

Fast forward to January 2007.  I had just discovered the art of "scraplifting" I had seen a LO in my Scrap Etc magazine that I thought would be PERFECT for this sweet picture of Jackson and my Daddy.  My father is the frozen food manager at a local grocery store, we had stopped by on our way to get Jack's Christmas photos taken and I was able to snap this photo of the two of them in daddy's aisle.  The grocery chain actually used this pic in a local advertisement the following year!  It was SO worth all of the love that I put into the LO to highlight it.

VERY cool photo and layout! You really work well with BG!!

Great story too!!
jografixx

Ahh... memories!

Wow! These are really great - but you have really evolved in your scrapping talent! You have such a great talent!
aunt e

Love the story behind this layout!  And...what a sweet sweet photo for family memories.  The BG is perfect!

The progression moves forward - as I look through my albums, this one stands out as one that is the next leap forward...when I first discovered CHIPBOARD!!!  And its also the first LO that I used the cardstock framing on - a technique that is still a favorite today!  Besides - this picture is totally priceless!

aunt e

You did that picture justice my friend!  What a great one!
RobinB

love those goofy faces!  Well done.
aunt e

Krissy, Please share more!  I am loving your little gallery hop with commentary!!!
lisa9er

Oooo, yeah I love that one.  FAB pic of course.  GREAT use of chipboard!!

And here is where I entered the wonderful world of HYWWP and where the progress really begins. (Can you BELIEVE I have been a member here for TWO YEARS???)  This is a LO I did for an NSD challenge the very first month that I joined the site. If you remember - i think each DT member posted three or four challenges.  I almost completed them all that weekend - and I was hooked on this site from there on forward.

This one was for a blue and brown color combo challenge.  The photo was from a palm sunday that we attended a different church.  He LOVED that big palm leaf so I blew up the photo and found the perfect MME paper to go with it.  I'm just now looking back and noticing the scallops - those were from decorative scissors...I was YEARS ahead of the trend !

and just because I found the gallery on my photobucket here are some others I did in that one weekend!!!

For a "use paint on your LO" challenge

Use Song Lyrics for a title

Monochromatic page challenge

Hidden Journaling challenge

Grid Challenge

Awww memories...
aunt e

I love the story of how you came here and then see the layouts that were inspired by challenges here!
lisa9er

scrapnkitty

Great lo's!  Love learning how the pages came to be!
RobinB

fun to see all these with an explanation.

Fast forward again...to the discovery of PAGEMAPS!  I don't do a whole lot of 2 pagers so this was stretching me a little bit too.

This was taken the weekend I moved into my new house (June 2006)  I loved this summer line (mango) and it was PERFECT for our bomb pop pics.

aunt e

I don't remember that layout from before, Krissy, but I sure do love seeing it now!  Fun title and I love the summery colors!
