Time for a card challenge!!!..

I received a cool spirelli card for Christmas and thought it would make for a great challenge.

If you do not know what a 'spirelli' is, here is a link for you.

You do not need their kit to do this. You can use any cirlce with points or scallops. The further you start your string the closer the center circle will be. You will see with the demo how she used the string almost across from where it was taped.

I will be checking my Cricut cartridges to see what I have that will cut the base for me!!..

You can make any kind of card you want.

You can make the spirelli as big or small as you want.

Do you have a Cricut? Do you have the Accent Essentials cartridge?

If so, you can make your own base!!..Use Accent#9. If you use the shift key, you will get one solid piece. If you do not shift, you will get a cut with a smaller cut (yes with points) in the middle. So you have two cuts for the 'price' of one cut..

cool idea! i'd like to try it out. lemme see whatcha come up with. i'm curious as to how the ones with the centers punched out work.

Ok, ladies..here is a quick card.

there are 3 cuts. The first cut has thread and the top one has thread. I left the center one undone. Each card was embossed. I used a square nestabilities for the the yellow base. I then put a tiny hole in the center of the top and slid in a prima that I crunched up. All 3 circles are on pop dots.

Hope this gives you an idea of what you can do...

Great challenge, Roe...I remember doing this kind of stuff when I was a kid. I got a kick out of the guy in the video trying to give information. Wish he had let her do more.
I'll be anxious to see what you creative ladies come up with.

hope this helps out a bit. i just looked through the cricut carts i have. jsut trying to be helpful.

GRAPHICALLY SPEAKING
"play hard" button, choose "icon blackout"
"unique" button, choose "shift" "icon blackout"
"the great outdoors" button, choose "shift" "icon blackout" (this one is almost EXACTLY what was used in the video)

STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION
"sunflower" button, choose "layers" or "shadow" or "shadow blackout"

ACCENT ESSENTIALS
top row, buttons 4-9 (from the left); choose any option
2nd row, 4th button; any option
4th row, buttons 1-2, 5; choose any option
5th row, button 6; any option

i;m gonna try one from graphically speaking, but i think i wanna try something a bit diff too. we'll see.

Paula, I had tried one of the other top row button on AE and it gave me long prongs. It would look different and I guess if you wanted something different, that would work!..

that's kinda what i was looking for...different. i know there's only 1 or 2 that are basically what you used. the rest and jsut different.

i'm ready to see imaginations and creativity used on this one. i'm excited.....

Mini Monograms Cart also has a scalloped circle that would work! I will see what I can come up with!

Katt, I thought of that because of the scallops...!!..However, I didn't pull it out to see...Please do it and show us how it looks with the scallops!!

It reminds me of spirograph years ago..please someone tell me they remember that? you used different color ink pens in this "cog and wheel" thing to make simular patterns.

after I get these cards done I need I'll try this.

i remember those! those were fun! funny how we go from spirographs to Wii!

colored pencils worked great. although, by the time i got around to using them, i think my sisters only had the outter circle one with 2 diff sized inner circles and that was about it.

heck, when this challenge first came up, the first thing i thought of was the spirograph things, i just didn't remember the name.

Ok, Roe......here is the card I made with the Scallop circle from the Mini Monograms Cart......I did a Valentine's day card since that's the next holiday coming up!

yeah, i dreamt i was trying this on a rectangluar-ish piece, but had too much fiber on one side versus the other and it kept bending cuz it wasn't thick enough cardstock. oh my goodness....it was a disaster!!!

hey- on plantin schoolbook there is this circle with spikes on it- like a word bubble for comics...it's like the 4 or 5 button in on the left. I might try that.... hum

I'm no prude...hunka 30 year old naked works for me. However they suggest you wear long pants because of the shooting blades of grass...ummm..maybe naked isn't so good after all..

ok, about half way done with my card. just have some stamping and embellies to add. xhubby brought nathan home, so i had to stop right in the middle.

oh my gosh! i have never just LEFT my table. i have paper pieces, scissors, adhesive, glue, thread, butotns, cutter......still out!!!! makes me kringe. i ALWAYS clean up......shiversssss

Paula, you are going to love just being able to walk away, close the door and know everything is ready for you when you go back in. I should clean up more than I do, but it's nice being able to start something and then if I have a few minutes I can go in my room and do a little something. Even if it is putting things away. But, I get to do it on my time. You will find it less stressfull having a room..honest..

here you go!

used gold glitter glue on the edges of the front flower and all around the outsdie of the inner flower. the center flower is gently tucked in the weaving of the bottom flower. i pop-dotted the front flower for a better effect.

I tried this...fun. I think it really works better with more little "petals", but I had these felt shapes on hand and gave it a try.
