I just learned something really cool!Using Photoshop....
Wanna see? Send me a photo that's too dark. I mean way too dark, but it's something you might want. You can put it here in a post. Then I will send it back, redone.
Fun? Hope so!
And do so quickly, ok, cuz I will run out of time today in a bit.

Wanna know how to do it? I will try to explain - it's very easy!
Open your Photoshop, whatever version you have (I have Elements 6).
Open your photo.
The example I saw to try this on was a photo that was so dark you could hardly see any image. The point was to see what you could redeem. I played with the technique and realized you can do the same thing even with a perfectly good photo. However, the point was to save an underexposed shot.
Next, go to Layers, choose New Adjustment Layer. If a dark photo, choose Levels, and lighten (center adjustment in the graph).
Click ok.
Then, again to New Adjustment Layer, click Bright/Contrast. Move Contrast all the way to 100%. Click ok.
Last step, New Adjustment Layer again, click Threshold. This will make it black and white (no grays). There is a slide you use in the "graph" thing, move till it looks like what you would like.
It's so darn easy - cuz all you need to remember is New Adjustment Layer - Levels to lighten - Bright/Contrast to increase contrast - Threshold for b/w then adjust it.
Cool, huh?
I will show you a photo when I get on my other computer (using second comp at the moment)

Ok, here are a couple I did when trying this out. the first two were photos that were just fine. the third was kinda dark to begin with. and I would guess you could do this in colors as well.
