Hi Carrie....thank you for giving us some of your time...I live in the great PNW, too.

How do you come up with the designs for your papers?
lisa9er

Sounds like a full house Carrie, how do you 'make' time for scrapping/desinging. Do you have dedicated hours, whenever it fits?
paperTRUNK

To make a long story short...I came home with a Cheesecake Factory bag after a date with my hubby and thought, "these colors would make wonderful scrap paper!" I sat down and decided to play around with digi stuff. I showed my digi papers to a friend who sent them of to a manufacturer. That manufacturer decided to print them!

After lots of prayer and talking with my hubby, we knew I was supposed to have my own company. We could see how things had lined themselves up to get us to Paper Trunk.[/i]
trisha

How IN THE WORLD did you get started with your fabulous company? Where did you start?
Trisha
trisha

WOW! You answered my questions too!
Trisha
Jenny

What an awesome story! My hubby is a graphic designer, and we have tossed around the idea of having our own paper line too....I just have no idea where to begin! Don't you just love it when God lines everything out so perfectly before you? :)

Jenny

I am inspired by everything! Seriously...children's books, CD covers, fabrics, nature. I get inspired by the mot random things!

The Batik line was inspired my friend's shirt...I borrowed it from her one night and Batik was born! :yeah baby

I scrap when I can...usually at night when everyone else is sleeping!

I see Gigi and Batik papers on your site. THey look wonderful. Are there others or others on the way?

oh yeah! I've been working on new collections that will debut at the Winter CHA. I'm so excited!!!!
lisa9er

everyone still here??
Jenny

Sweet! Any hints as to what they will look like?

Jenny
Punkin

Ladies, jump right in and ask your questions!
trisha

I love your papers so much. Do you offer a monthly kit club?
Trisha
RobinB

How long are the stamp borders? They look great too.
Jenny

What about embellishments? Do you sell any of those, or just papers for now?

Jenny
paperTRUNK

Jenny wrote:

hmmmmm...... well, I can tell you my inspiration for each line!
One line was inspired by the soundtrack to the Beatles "Love" (the Vegas show)
Another one was inspired by nature!
lisa9er

That Batik line is incredible!! I ordered from Personal scrapper, and now see my LSS carries some of your paper...how long have you been 'in business?'
Jenny

I love them already!!! LOL

Jenny
GrammyScraps

How does the process work to go from the design to the printing....how did you find someone to do this for you?
paperTRUNK

trisha wrote:

Trisha

Currently, we do not offer a club. One of my dearest friends is a kit club owner. I don't see Paper Trunk going in that direction...I'd rather leave the coordinating to all the fabulous kit club owners out there!
Jenny

I noticed on your website that you have a "designer of the month." How does one go about submitting projects for that?

Jenny
Punkin

I know Corinne from our other board. She is a doll. I see she is on your design team as well. Do you have your own store or is your business just thru the web right now?

Those are really fun to play with! The border stamps are 12", so they fit across an entire layout. Or, you can use a portion of them to frame a photo, a card, etc. You can shape them a bit too (make a circle or wavy lines)

yes and they are the prize for the drawing if you complete this months Technique challenge!!! They are the borders and they are acrylic clear stamps

I would love to add embellishments in the future but, for now, we are stamps and paper. I have lots of ideas stored up and when the budget allows...we'll add embellies.

We opened our trunk July 1st. We did not attend any of the summer shows so, it has all been word of mouth. I am so blessed to have this opportunity!
Jenny

Well, we hope to spread the good news through word of mouth....your papers really are gorgeous and have great texture!

There are so many details that go into getting the paper from brain...computer....printing press...into your hands! It is pretty amazing. With my experience in the industry, I had some resources to connect me. Mostly, I did lots of research to finding the right cardstock and printer.
Jenny

Other than PaperTrunk, what is your favorite brand of scrapbooking supplies?

Jenny

Yes and yesterday I showed your lines to my LSS here in town and she loved them!!! I gave her your contact info as well ...
we added your link to our homepage, as well as our myspace page :)
Punkin

What is on your scrappin table/ desk that you CAN NOT live without???
RobinB

Odd request. I often have need for papers with a true primary color scheme...like bright red, yellow, royal blue, green, that is not too babyish. More sporty...like for team sports, or college colors, etc. They are very hard to find. Wish you and other designers would consider doing more lines in those colors.

We post the announcement on our blog every month (http://www.papertrunk.blogspot.com) I would love to see you all submit for this...we are always on the lookout for different levels of scrappers, cards, and altered items.

We receive projects from designers everyday and I love to share these projects on our website, blog, and in our newsletter!

Do you have a scrap/design room/studio?....or do you just use the kitchen table?

I love sticker letters too. You should make a matching set of cardstock sticker letters to go with your lines. Kind of like Basic Grey does.

I hear ya. When I need primary colors like that, I usually reach for my SEI and American Crafts! They have some wonderful collections that are great for sports, school, etc.

This was something that I didn't even know was an option until I started my research! I'm proud to be the first manufacturer to provide recycled papers! We have been trying to find packaging options that are environmentally safe as well. It is possible to "scrap green" and Paper Trunk hopes to help you do that!

I think I'm kind of an odd ball...I don't really have a celeb scrapbooker that I stalk (hee hee). There are so many talented designers out there that I find inspiration on message boards and in galleries. If I had to chose one designer, it would most likely be Ali.
Being the mama to 3 young kids, I very rarely have time to sit and look through magazines. So, I don't have any subscriptions. Of the magazines I've received from trade shows, I'd say Scrapbooks Etc. is the nicest publication (lots of inspiration in that one!)
