Ask Wendi!Ask Wendi some questions! Scrappy or non scrappy! Let's get to know her even better!

nathan's momma

I'll start.
1. when did you first start scrapping?
2. what/who got you started and why?
3. Has your style changed?
4. if so, why do you think?

Thanks paula :)
1. when did you first start scrapping?
According to my calculations, i have been scrapbooking for (wow!)12 years now
I first started "pretty scrapbooking" when I was introduced to CM at a party right after Will and I got together. Been doing the cutting and pasting things (mainly with New Kids and the Monkees scrapbooks ) since I was a kid
2. what/who got you started and why?
My friend Angela got me started because she invited me to a party... that totally sparked my interest. Then my other friend, Amber, bought me a "starter kit" for my birthday and I was a gonner from there!
3. Has your style changed?
OH HEAVENS YES! Funny you should ask because I was going thru my layouts folder in my computer the other night (Wills computer had a virus grr) and I was laughing because of some of the layouts I was posting back when I was on the DIY message board (God rest its soul )
I still use brighter colors than not and I still love the little detail but my look has definitely changed... however I think I have finally maybe found my niche in my style. Been with it for a while now :)
4. if so, why do you think?
I whole heartedly think its two things...because of this community and all the talent there is here. I have been SO inspired by the work in our gallery and I am ALWAYS making notes of things I see that i like.
I also think its because alot has happened in my life in 12 years... evolving my style as I go and mounds of practice. Hope that makes sense

I think you said that you use to work at a preschool or daycare. Do you see yourself doing that again one day?

I have been thinking about that alot lately. Dylan will be in school full time in two years and I want to find a part time job where I can be here when they go to school and when they get home.
I loved working with preschool age kids sooooo much. I miss it sometimes, especially where i worked (which is now closed).
I am sure I will be working with children somehow... whether its in a preschool or with the school district. Id like to anyway :)

I sure want to but to be honest, coming to Florida would be more about meeting you and the other Florida divas, Roe
Disney world would be icing on the cake

heheheee I love talking about my boys, in case you didnt notice
Brody was a name Will wanted to name a son since he was a kid. It was more of a surfer California name when we were thinking about it and not so common like it is now. I wasnt crazy about it at first, at all, but it sure grew on me! He wanted Brody Michael but in case it was our only son, I picked Brody William after daddy and daddys grampa. I think it fits him SO well too
Dylan was one of my most favorite names for a boy since i was a kid. I loved Dylan and Brandon. So... since Will got his boy name, I got Dylan and Will chose the middle name... Spencer... after his other grampa :)
I realllllllly dig unique names!

Wendi, when I ask people if they are coming to Disney, it really means I want them to come and visit me...Disney is the excuse one can give the kids and husband...

Ironically, tho it feels like it, i havent been here since the sites conception either!
I started out my scrapbooking message board career being a participant in the long drawn out and sometimes soap opera-ish DIY message board. There, I met and quickly grew to be friends with many wonderful ladies
Well there was a real crabby ol ... lady...( for lack of better words) on there who was just plain mean and she was causing drama left and right. Well she drove alot of people away from that site and well, our very own Miss Marlene had told me about this other message board where people were kind, drama free and asked me many times to check it out!
I am so glad I did!!!! (thank you Marlene)
I settled right in here as I felt like I belonged all along and I brought as many of my friends from DIY as I could with me. Most all of them came and are still here :)
I was asked to the DT and just a few short months later, the original owner told us she was stepping down and asked if anyone would like to take over.
With some very kind words of encouragement and support, I stepped in because I LOVED this board and all the ladies here. I made MANY changes and THREE YEARS LATER... here we are!

LOL.... as far as cartoons, I LOVED the old school Looney tunes and the Flintstones. Still do love the Flintstones too :)
My favorite tv shows growing up were The dukes of Hazzard, Hee Haw, Little House on the Prairie, The Monkees and the Cosby show.
Oh the innocence of prime time TV back then...

Sounds like we'd be very TV compatible back in the day!!
While I love alot of shows on tv now, I so miss the days of that kind of prime time tv!!

Of course Will .. to tell him he can come home and quit his "job"
Aside from Will, i would call my dad first and tell him Im coming to get him from work... I have a big surprise for him. :)
Im pretty sure my first shopping stop would be to the bank to pay off my Tahoe. I dont want a new rig since I have it... then I would drive across the street from the bank to Ben Franklin crafts and go APE in their aisles.
(I just piddled thinking about it)

That's awesome about the site's history - thank you SO much for sharing.
You have been such a rock to me over the past few months - tell me a little about your journey as a Christian - when you gave your life over to Him and how that transformation came about (if its too personal - feel free to take a pass)

awww thank you krissy... God is good, isnt He?
Not to personal! I LOVE sharing about God in my life and I could go on and on about the blessings I have been given
As far back as I can remember... my dad would talk about Jesus with me, take me to church and those wonderful things. He would ask me... "did you talk to Jesus today?" or "do you have Jesus in your heart?"
I think I got the hunger for a walk with God as a little kid as a result:) Im so glad I did too. I guess, Jesus and God have always been a part of my life that way.
I think i was about 11 or 12 when I made the conscience decision and gave my life to God and accept Jesus as my personal Savior, when I felt I really understood what it was about and that I needed to and wanted to do it.
Im not sure how the transformation came about, I just know I was always hearing about the Word and knew God was the answer to happiness.
God pulled me thru alot as a kid and growin up and I know He is pulling me now. Other wise, i dont think I would have made it this far :)

I have tears reading this....I love you Miss Wendi :
I love that your Dad asked you those questions....I use to ask Dwayne those very same questions all the time then once he got to be around 16, I would ask him...."Are you still saying your prayers" " Do you have Jesus in your heart".
Does my heart good reading this

I would have a tanner complexion
I have always been told (especially when I had real curly hair) that I look like Nichole Kidman... and recently, I heard Katherine Heigl a couple times... not sure how that one comes about.

Right now I have Natasha Bedingfield in my car. Im usually a radio girl but
everything is in that played out mode with me.
On my iPod, my most played playlist is my "easy scrap-type list" that I have.
Its an adult contemporary/easy listening/soft rock/70s and 80s mix I LOVE!
