Interesting question! When I was in grade school I was kind of a tomboy - so I played a lot of baseball *not softball* and I went by "Kris" because it was easier to shout across the field than Christina...The problem came in classes because there were four other "Chris" names in the class and two others had the last initial S so I changed over to the K to distinguish my papers from other peoples (besides K is a much prettier letter to write than C) and it stuck.
When I grew up and got more "girlie" Kris became Krissy and I still liked drawing the K better so I kept it...

Hmmm...bad habits. I chew my nails and my cuticles like a bunny on a carrot. I used to have to go get acrylics to keep them out of my mouth but upkeep got to be too much so now I just deal with stubby nails and yucky cuticles.
Pet Peeve: LIARS for sure...also people who obviously see signs for merging traffic or road construction and try to zoom through the lane that is going to close until the very last second...don't they know that THEY are the ones who cause the traffic jam in the first place? MERGE people - that's why they give us plenty of warning!!!

Good question too...I would just love to sit with just about anyone on the CK team - Leah Fung, Lyla Koncar, Ali Edwards, Valerie Salmon, Janna Wilson - and just get some insight into their creative process. How they build their layouts, tell their stories, different ways to use products than I have seen before...then integrate them into my own style.

Ahhhh my first car was a 1978 Malibu classic maroon with a white vinyl top and a ROARING V8 engine. I loved that car SO much!
First job - Let's see - I babysat from the time I was 12 or so but my first actual "paycheck" was when I was 14 years old giving out pizza and ice cream samples at my dad's grocery store. It was SO much fun and I was super good at it! Some days I would have vendors fighting over me!

| RobinB wrote: | | tell us a little about your background....Like how many places and where you lived growing up and school or college, etc.? |
Let's see - I grew up in the same town where I live now. Altoona...my parents still live in the same house that they have since 1975 so that's kind of neat, it was a small town but its grown up a lot but most people know my folks - my grandparents lived there all of their lives too so I run into people all the time that know my family.
I went to school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City on a Biology grant, I wanted to get into genetic research but figured out two years in that I hate lab work and needed to be more social. So I started in the medical field and was an EMT for a couple of summers and moonlighted at a children's hospital - burned out quick, took some time off and ended up getting my communications degree and have been in Insurance and Financial Services ever since...

Not at all - I've always been very open about my adoption! It's one of the best things that ever happened to me. My adoption date was June 13, 1979 after my parents had tried to have a baby for a couple of years. They were always very up front with me about my adoption so I grew up knowing that they got to "hand pick" me out of all of the babies...
I did meet my birth father through an adoption registry when I was pregnant with Jackson and we met in person when I was out in California for some training the following July. I was the product of an affair between my married mother and my married father. I have four siblings on my dad's side Three are older - Dean and twins Shelley and Holly and one that is exactly 4 months younger than me, Andy (for those who are following, his wife and mistress were pg at the same time!!!) Two of whom know about me and are friends on Facebook the other two don't know the others have found me but I cyber stalk them on their blogs tee hee. There are two older siblings on my mom's side but I've never been in contact with her.
I am SO blessed to have been placed with the family I have. They are so unconditional with me and my brother that it is unreal. God knows what he is doing!
How many houses? My parents - My townhome in KC, My condo in Iowa and the house I own now. But I had 6 different apartments between the time I moved out when I was 19 to the time I bought the townhome when I was 25

Now you guys are getting creative - sheesh.
I DO love to read and seem to always be in the middle of three or four books. I read ALL of The Babysitters Club books in grade school, and the little house on the prairie series (still have all of those). In high school I was into Mary Higgins Clark Mysteries, VC Andrews, Edgar Allan Poe, and I went through a stage with the classics - still love things like Heart of Darkness, Metamorphosis, Great Gatsby and Gullivers Travels.
I am and have been a big Days of our Lives follower ever since the 7th grade. I like to consider myself a Brady/Horton expert!

Well...that's kind of an interesting question - you see - my mother is ADDICTED to QVC so I have every crazy little kitchen gadget known to man - jar openers, wine houdini's, pasta cookers, steamers, mideival torture devices. However - I don't cook very often when its just Jackson and I so they don't really get used (except for the wine stuff )
Besides just bread and milk, we must always have Pepperoni tostinos pizzas and chicken nuggets for Jackson and green olives and pepperoncini's for me. ALWAYS!

Actually - I don't think I would move to a bigger place. Mine is just perfect for me ant the boys - I would only move to a bigger place if there ended up being more of us than just us three (like when we thought about moving to accommodate Chad's boys) If money were no object, I might just want to add on to the back of my existing house (a dining room and a scrap room)
The first thing I would buy for myself - hmm - probably a whole new wardrobe (after Joseph of course). There's nothing that feels better than new clothes that fit nicely! Scrap related: The perfect scrap room! Plenty of space, a skylight for natural lighting, wonderful storage and a dedicated computer for scrappy stuff.

Who is your favorite cartoon character? The whole lot of Veggie Tales...they were serious sanity savers when Jackson was little (and even today too) and I didn't feel as bad plugging him into it because of the messages and lessons.
Are you a person who has a lot of pictures, coupons, notes on the fridge or do you keep it clean? Is there a fridge underneath there??? You mean the paper collection that keeps my food cold?
What is your beauty routine in the morning? I think I remembered to wash my hair in the shower this morning . In all honesty, I get J up, take my shower, blow dry my hair, spackle on a little foundation and mascara and I'm pretty much out the door. No time for much else." |
You are too sweet! I have been having fun tapping in to it every morning too!!!

Alright - when I was a kid I think the most embarrassing was probably when I was staying at my aunt's house in Washington and we were all sitting around playing a board game - somehow we got into a recurring joke and I laughed so hard that I wet myself. (I was about 8 years old)...that wasn't the most embarrassing part though - the real problem was that I was sitting on a waffle chair and it leaked straight through onto the floor.
Adult - I plead the 5th - but I am told that it was a REALLY good night at the bar...

My first boyfriend and kiss was in the 8th grade - Alan Miller - he was first chair trumpet in the band, and I just thought he was SO cute! Now he works with another friend of mine...he's still cute but a bit of an arse!
Out of the norm? Well I jumped out of a plane a few years ago (pre-Jack) but back then I was a little bit of a wild child so nobody was really surprised.

Favorite Song "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds
Favorite color: blue
Ice Cream: Bunny Tracks!!!
OOooh - DOOL questions!!!!
Fave super couple: HAS to be John and Marlena!!! I miss them on the show SO much. No matter what ripped them apart, they always ended up back in each other's arms. Even when Marlena got buried alive and John was Stephano's soldier...
Favorite storyline: ooh....tough one...I may actually have been the only one who liked this storyline but when they were doing the Salem Serial Killer series - killing off main characters (even ALICE!!) and it ended up that they were all on the island instead. I really got into that!
Favorite scene: Ummm...any one of them that shows EJ with no shirt on YUM!

Funny you should ask that right after my last post. It's a Days of Our Lives thing. The main villian is Stephano DiMera. His secret mansion is called Aremid - which is Dimera spelled backwards. I adopted it as my screen name and then later named my little lost kitty Princess Aremid Dimera.
Ah the college years are fun!

My pleasure reading I usually do at night after the house is quiet and the TV has been shut off - I like to do devotions on my lunch break - it really helps recharge me for the second half of my day.
In my recliner at home - in my car at lunch. Dunno why but I love reading in my car with the windows down!

1st concert was AEROSMITH - Pump Tour 1989. I still have the t-shirt from that concert...and I was such a ahem - large child - that I can still wear it now! That was the summer of concerts because my dad had a friend who could get us tickets. I also got to see NKOTB with Tommy Page, Tiffany, and Billy Joel that year!
Hmm...I'd LOVE to get tickets to the American Idol concert again this year - I went last year and it was awesome. I would LOVE to see Aerosmith again (for the 7th time) and Bon Jovi puts on a great show too!
Are you kidding? What good is live music if you can't go NUTS!!!???!!!
