Album organization question.

I was going through Jackson's old books (more nostalgia weepy time) and was lamenting how "elementary" his baby book was compared to Joseph's which I adore. But then I kept going and realized that Jackson has 9 books (not counting vacation books and Disney) that feature him exclusively whereas, with two there is no way Joe is getting that many.

My question is - do you keep a book for each child? Just a family album each year? I'm thinking that I might just have to do one big one for the year - I can't stand the thought of having to do TWO seperate layouts for each event (one for each boy). Especially things like Thomas or holidays.

How do you handle it?

I have an album for each girl and an album for LO's that include both of them. I also have family album that have all of us in the LO. Then I have a friends album. Yeah, I sound complusive!

I started out long ago thinking I'd keep them separate, but soon decided that was too hard. They will just have to fight over who gets what if they are even interested. I did make each one a "this is your life" type album for when they graduated from High school. So save copies of those very special moments(a few from each year) to scrap while they are in high school. That's also where I keep those class pictures, team photos and special certificates.

i like to think that a separate album for each and another for both./family stuff owuld be ideal. but i don't know how easy that would be,.

I keep a book going for each child and one of my own. I put all the "together", "family" or "me" pics in my album. Their albums are all about them. I start an album with the beginning of school, so my albums actually go from Sept to Augustish. I always end their albums with fun summer layouts.
I make pages for them for holidays and put in their albums, but the pics with them together or family get togethers all go in on "Christmas" (or whatever) album...in the past I have done mini albums, like 8x8 of all Christmas. That way all the album is that holiday...I probably have you all confused now.

Funny you should be asking this since I just stocked my shelving with the albums and realized how I have a book for nina almost every couple of months..

Here's what I have:

Each kid
birth-6 months
6 month -1year
then one a year after that
portrait album

then I have a family one that just gets a new one as fill them no certain years everything misc goes in here.

I also have a haloween album, pets album, and an us album of dh & I.

Not sure if I will keep up the yearly albums but plan to do it atleast till they start school. I'll figure it out from there next year.

I have books of each child and all of the 'together, etc.' are in family albums.

Each of my boys have their own separate album for just their own pics/pages....Evan has books of just him, Aaron has books of just him. Then, I have a couple of albums that is all pages and pictures of the two of them together. I have a separate Christmas album, and each boy gets an 8x8 birthday album for each year. I also have a separate album for Evan's school pages. Sometimes I do mini albums for certain holidays or events if I have a lot of pics.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I think I'm going to chill and see how it goes...I know Joe will at least have a book for his first year and his baby book to himself. I want to do a 365 for his first year so we'll see how that goes...and then I will keep doing a school album for Jackson. Sheesh this is going to get complicated.

and when you do pages of them both/family. i would just laternate. that way each one can have a "family" album. make sense.....
