I began scrapping in about 1996 or 97.  My friends dragged me to a CM party and then told me about this more colorful and textural way to scrap and we started a little group with 4 of us taking turns hosting a scrap day with lunch included.  I started with a book about my daughter's life, since she would be graduating from HS in a year or so and I wanted something to pull out at the party to show about her life.  I started it with some historical background....a bit of a family tree type stuff and added some pictures of her grandparents and parents and baby pictures of her.  News from the day she was born, etc.  I then went through my old photo albums and pulled a few cute pictures of her and her family for each year up until graduation time and did LO's (one or two pages per year of her life).  It took me a year and a half to finish just in time.  Towards the end of her album I put in all her team events and special awards, including her high school letter...figured it was a good place to keep all that memorabilia together.  The last page is just a pocket page with extra pics and awards she got through college that I had good intentions of adding, but never did...at least they are all there.

So after that I was hooked!  I scrapped a trip to Hawaii then and after that started a similar book for my son Jonathan.  Figures, his book is twice as large as hers(needed two albums).  Then I started chronological scrapping from about 4 years worth of piled up pictures and have never caught up!  I began to catch up a bit when I was first empty nesting, cause I missed the kids and had time on my hands.  But as things get more elaborate and a bout with cancer and a new golf hobby, I just don't get to scrap that much any more.  I'm really missing it.

I'll try to dig out some old albums and take some pictures to share with you all of my past work.

Here's a LO I did a couple years ago about how I got all my names.  I think it's a good one to start with.  You can read the journaling better in the gallery.

Just for sharing... Here are some of my earliest LO's.  Starting with the old sticker sneeze technique...LOL.  A photocopied newspaper article about a play my son was in...he's the scarecrow.

Then paper piecing was another rising trend and oh so fun to do.  I used computer fonts and graphics cut out like die cuts a lot back then too.  My little nephew was so impressed with his older cousin he wanted to imitate him....

Stickers were populare then too... alphabets, sticker stars and music notes.

Die cuts were also very popular, and only large stores had die cut equipment and sold them by the cut.  Computer font from a special scrapbooking CD.

And my first experiment with eyelets that I stole from my sewing basket.  And the word "Cousins" hand cut from a template.

My how things have changed!  But I've always like a lot of color.
