Rule of Thirds. This is simple, but often we forget about it. How you frame a photo does matter. Don't say to yourself, aw, I'll just crop it later. that may not work out, and it makes you lazy. Try to take a good shot to begin with, if possible.
Here is a very short article I found on the Rule of Thirds. It's pretty easy to grasp. Give it a try, ok?

Got it this time, Katt. Yes I would think this qualifies. In fact, it's effective in that it's got a diagonal line that draws your eye from top to bottom (or bottom to top) diagonally, a pleasing effect. Well done, darlin'!

Nice, Lisa! I really like that one! You know the only thing I might do differently (hear me clearly, it's great as is), is do a vertical, still with him slightly off to the side. Just a thought!
