Sharon, how funny you should post this...

Just last night I saw a butterfly made from a flower...Ok, no big deal and I'm sure some of you have done this...I just never did.

Using a 5 petal flower, take one and turn it down over the center of the flower.  Add bling or whatever to that part and add antenna.

I saw it done with a silk flower, I used paper...I will post a photo as soon as I can...

Ok, so it's no big thing, but I like it and will use it again....

Sharon asked that I share using the photosplit.  It comes as a "unit" and you just place your pic on the layer below it.  It is impossible, because of the different heights of the frame, to get the picture to fit perfectly.  What I do, and I'm sure the pros must do it differently....but this works for me; Once I get the photo placed just as I like it and I have the photo layer selected, then I go to my eraser and simply erase any photo hanging over the sides of the "frame".

That's exactly what I do, Grammy!  I can't think of an easier way, that is really quite simple!

Glitter words

Type in your lettering using a BOLD font with a thick format font (the thicker the font the better you can se the glitter effect)
Once your word/words are in place go to filter
Use PIXELATE filter
then try the different types until you get the glitter effect you are wanting.
You can also use this on frames, flowers and such to some degree, depends on what your elements are madeof as to how they turn out.

Ok, girls, this is how I spent my afternoon!  I wanted to try something that was sent today, so fiddled with it, and while at it, discovered something that can make our photos brighten up a bit, a lot more simply than what I was trying to do!  There are all these features to PSE6 (and I know they are there with PSP, too) that honestly, what are they for????  Yeah, well, anyway ....

Here is my trick.  Go into PSE, open a file of something that needs more brightness.  Great one to choose: the one you took through a screen or a window that has that hazy look.

Now do this, hit control j, which will make a duplicate layer.  (for dummies like me, that layer is sitting right on top of the original photo [don't want to admit how long it took me to realize that!])

Now go on the right to the drop down under the word layers.  Find soft light.  Click that, and your photo will just change.  That very well might do the trick.  If not, lower the opacity a bit.

Merge the two layers, save, and you're done.

BTW, you can play around with all those dropdowns, kinda cool!

Here is one I did this with, no adjusting was needed, brightened up Honey's face nicely (she spends half her time staring out this window).

going to add two more, these were taken through a window:

Marlene, I'm not home with my program, so I can't check anything. I would like to know though, how did you merge the two layers?  Did you do a copy/paste? And if so, on the paste would did you use? New layer, etc...

Thanks!!

Well, I don't know how PSP looks (you still use that, right?) but when you duplicate it - go to layer and choose duplicate - you do NOT see two in front of you, BUT they are in layers.  The second layer sits on top.  On the right (at least that's where it is for me) shows the layers separated, so that's how you can tell which one you are working on.

So .... open you photo, then duplicate it.  Once you do that, you should automatically be working on the duplicate layer.  So go to where you choose your layer style (mine is in the same spot as they layers on the right) find soft light and choose it.  From there you can fiddle with the opacity.

Now when you open your photo, you canNOT change opacity when it's a background (that's what it will automatically be when you open it).  You have to add another layer to change it's style and opacity.

Make any sense?

Ok, so to answer you question, you simply merge where it says layer up at the top (not the thing on the right) which makes it ONE piece, and from there you make it a jpg.

Now does that make sense?  Wish you could sit beside me and see!
